I AM A PASSIONATE EDUCATOR ABOUT SKIN HEALTH AND WELLNESS.
Hi! I’m April Shea.
My goal is for you to be able to see your skin in a new way, and love what you see.
I work with clients to address the common causes, prevention, and treatment of acne, dark spots (hyperpigmentation), and aging.
Together we evaluate and treat your skin issues through state-of-the-art home-care regimens as well as physician and other provider referrals as needed.
My signature system, Your Skin MATTERS, has been developed as a whole health approach to helping clients achieve their healthiest skin.

My Story
I became a clinical esthetician because I had terrible skin. In junior high school, I stopped participating in social events, and instead spent most of my time in front of the mirror, trying to cover up my zits. I also had flat warts around my mouth that looked like acne. This was a time before estheticians were an established field, so I was seeing dermatologists, but my skin never really cleared.
Fortunately, my mother went to cosmetology school and I was able to get extractions and facials from an esthetician, and finally saw improvement in my skin. I realized if I learned these techniques, I could help other people suffering from skin issues. So I enrolled and got my license as an esthetician.
I went into business with my mom and we worked together for seven years. I then worked for a group of dermatologist and met one that was as passionate about skin as I was. He taught me how to analyze skin conditions and shared processes and techniques on how to improve them.
I began pulling those lessons into my work and decided to go out on my own as an independent contractor in a plastic surgeon’s office. That’s when I got the opportunity to see skin from the inside out. I observed surgeries and the surgeon would educate me on the inner workings of the skin. The education I received working there prepared me for managing my practice - Shea Clinical Skin Care.
I have 35 years of experience and I haven’t stopped learning. I’m still taking classes and researching new products and methods. Learning doesn’t just happen in formal classes — it happens with everyone I talk to. When I was recently recovering from eye surgery and the nurse realized I am a veteran aesthetician she began asking me questions about her skin. She clearly needed to see a dermatologist and I was able to give her a recommendation of an M.D. I coached her on specific questions to discuss with the doctor. The result was her skin improved remarkably within three months.
My Experience
It can be hard to know who to trust with your skin. Many of my clients have tried countless doctors, estheticians and products before they find me. I don’t take your trust lightly, so here’s specific information about my education and experience.
I am a board-certified clinical aesthetician and physician-trained consultant who has performed more than 10,000 treatments during my 30+ years in the industry. As an expert in the chemical composition of medical-grade and home-care skin solutions, I understand the dynamic changes that occur within the skin through their usage.
My experience includes partnerships with dermatologists and plastic surgeons where I received one-on-one mentoring. This covered the evaluation and treatment of both clinical and cosmetic skin conditions.
These included folliculitis, dermatitis, cysts, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, melasma, acne, keratosis pilaris and the effects of aging.
Due to my depth of experience, combined with my passion for skin, it was a natural extension of my practice to become a professional trainer and educator. I provide clinical training to estheticians on the proper application of mechanical and chemical skin-resurfacing techniques. While I am located in Silicon Valley, I consult via video with clients and professionals around the country to discuss skin concerns and treatment options.
